Poor customer service
Very poor reception staff. Arrived at the car park barrier. Pressed the buzzer and staff member was rude and dismissive. Told we didn't have a spot reserved even though this was not communicated before hand. By now 7 cars were queuing to get in. She put the phone down on me 3 times then wouldn't answer. Parked outside and went to reception. Asked receptionist where we could park for our stay and she just said outside and waved her hand towards the town. We complained and the manager gave us parking for our stay, but refused to speak to us. The room was ok, but showed signs of wear and appeared to have been poorly decorated with patchy paint and damaged walls. Lights didn't work properly. No A/C, which we were aware of, but a 4 star should have A/C. Provided with two weak fans, one of which was delivered at 2330 when we were asleep in bed. Staff member opened the door and came into the room. Staff generally quite uninterested and not very professional. Didn't feel very welcome. Communal areas seemed dirty and tired. Needed a deep clean.

Fantastic stay!
We loved staying at La Folie Douce. The breakfast and location are excellent. We had the basic room and it was small and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and sauna. There are many spaces in the hotel to relax, have a drink, eat. It is right in the heart of Chamonix so you can access all the shops and restaurants. We went on various hikes and visited the Aguille du Midi. We would not hesitate to return.
