Cosmiques hut - 3 613 m
Located by the Col du Midi and at the foot of Aiguille du Midi, at 3613 meters above sea level, the Cosmiques hut is one of a kind. Second highest mountain hut in France after the refuge du Goûter (3 815m), it once was a laboratory for the study of cosmic rays. A night at the refuge des Cosmiques guarantees a total immersion in the high mountain world, where the sunrise and sunset are unforgettable.
A legendary run
From the very first step onto the ridge at the Aiguille du Midi, you’re immersed in an unforgettable adventure. With the highest peaks of the Alps all around you, the Vallée Blanche offers a 15 km descent and 2,000 vertical meters through the heart of the Mont Blanc glaciers — a legendary off-piste experience that starts with a short ridge walk secured by fixed ropes, and finishes with a return by the Montenvers train or, with exceptional snow, skiing all the way down to Chamonix.
On the way to the Cosmiques Hut
Walk down the Aiguille du Midi ridge, skis on the pack and crampons on your feet. Short ski descent to reach the base of the Cosmiques Hut, then about a 20-minute walk to reach the hut.
